Bradford City Welcomes New Centre-Back Reece Welch
Excited to Join Bradford City
Reece Welch, a former Everton player, is thrilled to join Bradford City on trial. The 22-year-old centre-back has been training with the club since June and is eager to tap into the 'good energy' around the Bantams.
Welch was released by Everton at the end of last season after spending time in their youth academy from the age of eight. He made four cup appearances for the Toffees, including a League Cup start against Fleetwood Town, and had a brief stint with Forest Green Rovers before moving to Belgian club Deinze.
However, his loan at Deinze was cut short due to the club's bankruptcy in December. Despite this setback, Welch is optimistic about his future with Bradford City, stating: 'You know the size of the club; it is massive. The lads are all sound, great players. The gaffer is brilliant, and I am thankful the manager has put his faith in me.'
Manager's Praise for Welch
Manager Graham Alexander highlighted Welch’s attributes, saying he possesses 'athleticism, excellent ability on the ball and a will to defend'. He believes Welch has the potential to become a top player and is committed to helping him reach that goal.
Welch is set to make his competitive debut in Saturday's League Cup first-round tie against Rochdale. The centre-back is looking forward to showcasing his skills and contributing to Bradford City’s success.
