Bradford City's 20-year-old goalkeeper Zac Hadi is making big strides in the National League North on loan at Spennymoor Town. Despite suffering his first defeat in a 3-0 loss at Scarborough, the Bantams feel he will continue to make progress during his time in the north-east. Hadi spent last season with Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League and enhanced his reputation with some impressive performances. Now City want to see how he fares stepping up to sixth-tier football.
What happened?
Hadi made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Morecambe before helping Moors to an opening win over Merthyr. He will continue to train with keeper coach Colin Doyle and Jon McCracken and Cameron Dawson at Woodhouse Grove while playing for Spennymoor.
Why it matters for Bradford City
The City boss Graham Alexander said, "The longer-term view is that he's going to be a goalkeeper who plays for our first team. That's our ambition with him and then we have to make a judgement call." Alexander added, "We were really impressed with his maturity in pre-season. We all felt as a staff he looked more confident."
What comes next?
Hadi will continue to gain experience from dealing with mental pressures and responding to difficult situations. He's also getting the experience of training alongside top pros at League One level, working with a top coach and the other goalkeepers.
