Bradford City have got their eye in straight away, running up 105 home points in the last two seasons. The Bantams carried on where they left off against Peterborough, winning 2-0 and extending their unbeaten run to three games. Graham Alexander's side attacked with vim and vigour, a near 20,000 crowd expecting that full-throttle experience.
What happened?
The visitors showed a bit of early menace through winger Ethan Williams, but his threat on the right soon died down and faded away. Harry Lewis had leaked four last time against Crawley, but Jon McCracken ensured back-to-back home clean sheets with an unorthodox escape from Harry Leonard at 1-0. The home side looked stronger in all departments, from Matt Pennington to Jake Beesley, who came off goalless to a standing ovation.
Why it matters for Bradford City
The win made it three out of three on opening day for City under Alexander's watch. The Bantams had lost only one of the previous 10 league curtain-raisers, and Alexander's 14-year record as a manager also had just the single black mark from the season-opening league game when he was in charge of Motherwell in 2021.
What comes next?
In a nod to City's physical advantage, Peterborough went a bit more direct themselves to avoid the traps of being caught playing out. The Bantams had a strong bench, with Adam Phillips waiting for his chance from the bench, and Ibou Touray growing more influential on the left as the game went on.
