Bradford City midfielder George Lapslie ruled out with quad injury
Bradford City midfielder George Lapslie has been ruled out for a couple of weeks due to a quad injury. The 25-year-old damaged his quad at training at the start of last week and it's been confirmed he will be missing for a little while.
Lapslie had been used at right wing-back as cover for Josh Neufville but has not been able to feature since Austria. Graham Alexander, the Bantams boss, has admitted that Lapslie will be out for a couple of weeks.
What comes next for Bradford City?
The Bantams are looking to strengthen their squad before the start of the new season. Alexander has voiced his concerns about City's current squad size going into the campaign as he looks for at least three more additions before the end of the window.
Reece Welch is expected to join after impressing during pre-season and the club are also in talks over a new deal for Nick Powell. The financial picture this summer has been further complicated by a change to the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP).
Bradford City's transfer plans
Under the new regulations, City can only use half of any cash injection put in by owner Stefan Rupp in the wage bill. Alexander is encouraged by the attacking options he has available, but is concerned about the squad's overall depth.
City's 58 goals last season was the second lowest in the top half of the division. Alexander is hoping that the arrival of players like Adam Phillips, Antoni Sarcevic, and Bobby Pointon will help to increase the goal output.
Bradford City's current league position
As of the start of the new season, Bradford City are 4th in League One, 77 points, 22W-11D-13L from 46 games, recent form WDDDL. They are 26 points behind leaders Lincoln in the title race.
Goals this season: 58 scored, 51 conceded (+7 goal difference). The Bantams are looking to improve on their goal output from last season and are hopeful that the new signings will help to achieve this goal.
