Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has no immediate plans to dip into the free agent market. He made the admission after a busy summer that saw 12 new players arrive at Valley Parade.

Alexander, 35, told reporters he is "delighted with the club’s summer business" and believes the squad now has the right numbers. "We have to keep our eyes on it, because we haven't got a massive squad," he said. "We haven't got excess numbers."

Deadline day arrivals

The Bantams completed their summer recruitment on deadline day with four additions. Former Barnsley player Corey O’Keeffe was joined by midfielder Kieran Morgan and defenders George Pratt and Hayden Matthews in signing for the club.

This leaves Alexander content with his options for now, but he acknowledged the situation could change. "If we pick up an injury or two, then we have to be aware of it and prepared for that," he explained.

Clucas trial ends

One player who will not be joining is trialist Sam Clucas. The 35-year-old midfielder, a former Hull City and Shrewsbury Town player, had been handed an extended trial. Alexander confirmed Clucas is no longer training with the squad after picking up a calf strain at the end of last week.

"We're still assessing it. I think we're still looking at it," Alexander said of the free agent market generally. He added that any future move would depend on the club's financial flexibility, stating, "if we can do something financially, that's the thing."

League context

The manager's focus is now firmly on the campaign ahead. Bradford City sit 5th in the League One standings with 9 points from their opening five matches. Their recent form shows three consecutive wins, including a 1-0 victory at Notts County last Saturday.

Alexander will be hoping his settled squad can maintain that momentum. With the transfer window closed, the manager's attention turns to maximising the potential of the group he has assembled over the summer.
