Bradford City delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Rotherham United in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night. The win extends the Bantams' unbeaten streak to five matches across all competitions, providing a perfect boost before Saturday's League One meeting with Leyton Orient.

Will Swan opened the scoring after just three minutes, nodding in Corey O'Keeffe's delivery. Stephen Humphrys doubled the lead eight minutes later, capitalising on a defensive error to smash the ball home. Swan added his second just after the hour mark before Nick Powell converted a late penalty to complete the rout.

Control and chances

Bradford created the clearer chances despite seeing slightly less of the ball. They registered 16 shots, with eight on target forcing four saves from Rotherham goalkeeper Ted Cann. The hosts struggled for discipline, committing 16 fouls and receiving three yellow cards. Cameron Dawson in the Bradford goal was rarely troubled, making three saves to preserve the clean sheet.

The result leaves Bradford City in strong form as they turn their focus back to the league. They currently sit second in League One with 16 points from eight games.

Manager Alex Bruce made several changes for the cup tie, handing starts to the likes of Jayce Fitzgerald and Jili Buyabu. Key substitutions saw Nick Powell and Adam Phillips introduced in the second half to help see out the win. The team's overall squad depth is detailed on our squad page.

Bradford City's next match is at Valley Parade against Leyton Orient in League One on Saturday, October 10. The Bantams won the last meeting between the sides 3-1 away in early September.
