Bradford City's Bright Start Continues Ahead of Burnley Tie
Bradford City CEO Ryan Sparks felt the team's win at Sheffield Wednesday was one of the best in his time. The Bantams are hoping for a big crowd against Burnley in the Carabao Cup, with over 17,500 tickets already sold.
Sparks said, "We are really pleased with the start we have made. The biggest challenge coming into this season was picking up from where we left off. We did that successfully after promotion in 2024/25, but this summer was arguably an even bigger challenge after last season ended abruptly in the play-offs."
What Happened?
Bradford City beat Rochdale and Peterborough in their first two games of the season, and then came from behind to win 3-2 at Sheffield Wednesday. The win meant the Bantams are the only team in League One with maximum points.
Why it Matters for Bradford City
Sparks said, "We wanted to get something from the game, so to come home with three points made it a really special night. It has been a really positive start and we have some brilliant fixtures ahead of us."
What Comes Next?
Bradford City will face Burnley in the Carabao Cup second round, and Sparks is hoping for a big crowd. He said, "We want it to be a real occasion. If we can get more than 20,000 in the stadium and have the place bouncing, it gives our team an advantage."
Ticket Sales
The club has slashed ticket prices for the cup tie, and Sparks said, "Financially, providing we attract a big crowd, the club will be better off. Ticketing revenue is already double what we generated against Rochdale, when adult tickets were £13 pre-match, and we would expect healthy secondary spend on the night."
Recent Form
Bradford City have been in good form, with 58 goals scored and 51 conceded this season. They are 26 points behind leaders Lincoln in the title race, and have lost their last four games in all competitions.
League Standing
Bradford City are currently 4th in League One, with 77 points from 46 games last season. They have a recent form of 1W-0D-4L, with their last result being a 0-1 loss to Bolton on May 14, 2026.
